Fall sunset and sewing

WOW !! I thought the world was coming to an end when I saw this sunset. Just a breath taking sight to see. Where I live  it so flat .. we see the first rays of the sun rising  and then end the day with  beautiful colored sunsets. Its awesome to watch!

These are the latest master pieces I finished. I did a  super simple scrap quilt with SOME of my fabric scraps. (Didn't make a dent in the scrap pile, though). Then I had the itch to make something out of 50"s fabrics and  made this and a larger version of this. Its  fun to use fabrics I normally wouldn't pick. The good news ...for me , anyway, is both the scrappy and small 50"s quilt have found new homes and owners. I would like to try to get something added to my blog so those of you who are looking for a quilt can see what I have available, but ..... it all takes time and I  hate to admit it, (sigh)   I am not that good at computer stuff. Just keep checking back and maybe some day I'll figure it out!

Oh Baby

Spring is here and gone... boy did that go fast! My recent projects include baby quilts and here are 2 adorables. Both have been spoken for ... thanks gals.. but I just had to do a little show & tell. I fell head or heels in love with the Dr Suess fabric, and had to use it on the back as well. The colors are bright and the characters are fun to look at.

And then wandering through a fabric store the jungle fabric grabbed me. This is a too was such a fun fabric to work with. I backed it with a green polka dot fabric. This baby quilt is more of a unisex quilt. I know several expecting parents who are opting to wait to find out the sex of the baby... not a bad idea...its kind of like Christmas.. the anticipation ...

Ta da.... done

TA DA... The baby quilt is done.  Its been done for a while And I thought its time to put it up for show & tell.
The hand quilting took the longest to do. I don't claim to be real good at it,  nor do I think a baby will really care. For those interested.. I used a warm & natural batting.. The original size started out as 39 1/4" x 39 3/4" after it was machine washed and dried it shrank to 36 3/4" x
37 1/4". I like the puckery (is that a word ?) look... like the old quilts. I have a few puckers myself but they don't look nearly as good on me.... LOL

Baby Quilt

I don't know why.. but it always takes me longer than I think to get a baby quilt  quilted. I do all of my hand quilting on a small plastic frame, even the large quilts. I can sit in my rocker and stitch away at night, while watching TV & listening to hubby sleep in his recliner. With just 1/2 the border left to stitch and the binding to put on... the end is in sight! The only thing missing is the baby.
